I have finished the updates to teamfallout.net. Over the years teamfallout.net has been through three major revisions. With each revision I have incorporated new technologies, to make the site better. Each revision has also brought a different focus for teamfallout.net. For version 3.0 I feel like the focus is on content and multimedia. I am going to run down the new features below: · Photo Gallery: Teamfallout.net has always had a photo gallery, that will continue to be updated with even and LAN pictures. · Blog: We had a blog for about a year, but there was never much content posted on it. Jarrett (Fearist) has taken over updating the blog, so expect much more content there. · Fallout TV: Fallout TV is a new feature on teamfallout.net We have been testing this feature over the past month, and while it is still beta I feel it is mature enough for public consumption. If you haven't played with Fallout TV yet check it out by clicking the link in the menu on the left of the site. The player automatically connects to the live stream if it is up, but the real value is the VOD function that play back video from past events on demand. · Twitter: Live blogging events is another content feature I introduced last year with the live blog of the WCG US final in Los Angeles. Every major event we attend will be covered via twitter. If you want to keep up with Team Fallout at events following us on twitter is the most effective way to do that. I also post random tidbits about what's going on with the Team and myself personally on twitter. · The Site: The site looks radically different, because we are running on a new backbone system. We have moved to Web 2.0 standards, which allow for a more dynamic and interactive experience on the site. All of the major features are working. I am happy at how well it has turned out, version 3.0 should serve Team Fallout well for years to come. The upgrade took a little under 24 hours to complete. Teamfallout.net 3.0 marks the first major upgrade to the site in 2 years. I am still in the process of moving the archived content from the old site over. |
